About Mrs. Smith
My name is Jodi Smith. I am a mom of 4 kids and a third grade elementary school teacher. I also teach high school summer school. I work at a school with 90% under privileged children. Students enter my classroom that truly do not know how to read. Students in one particular class read a range from 25 to 225 words per minute. Differentiation is one of the biggest challenges I face as a teacher because I strive to meet the needs of every child. It is truly rewarding to see so much growth in just one school year!
When my children were young, I read to or with them every night. I miss those days. Today, I personally love reading to learn. I am dedicated to teaching children to read and instilling a love for reading in all kids. I applied for a grant to run a mobile library next summer so I can motivate children to keep reading over the summer. Check back next summer to follow my success.
